ABOUT THE BLOG AND THE CREATOR

About the blog

Hello! Welcome to my blog. (Seriously, it you're reading this, thanks.) This is where I post reviews for the books I read, as well as articles about things just tentatively related to reading. The name of the blog is just my username because I wasn't able to think up anything better.

I do monthly roundups of all the books I've read that month, plus yearly roundups of my favorites. My reviews are pretty short because I don't have a lot of time, but I do try to be thorough and fairly evaluate each book.

For further reference, my rating scale is thus:

★☆☆☆☆: Didn't like it

★★☆☆☆: It was okay

★★★☆☆: Liked it

★★★★☆: Really liked it

★★★★★: Loved it

(Yes, this is stolen from Goodreads, but they have a good system!)

Types of books I generally review/rate highly

  • Speculative fiction of all types

  • Thoughtful stories with more serious themes

  • Character-driven stories

  • Stories with plot twists and conspiracies

  • Anything with the found family trope

Types of books I generally don't review/rate highly:

  • Romance-based stories in general

  • Action-heavy plots with no emotional backing

  • Lack of logic

  • Excessive horniness

  • Anything with animal abuse

I really do this blog for fun, but do also try to be serious when writings reviews. That being said, I can be a little petty with my ratings, and all of my opinions are mine, and mine alone. For the most part, I judge off of entertainment factor, not intellectual value. But I do my best to by fair both to the books, and the opinions of others.

Any discrepancies in ratings on here and on Goodreads are completely accidental, and the Goodreads one is probably correct. In addition, there are some books that I rated and reviewed on Goodreads, but that aren't featured on this blog. Those are from when I abandoned this blog for a few months due to burnout. Since then, I've been writing shorter reviews, and only reading what I actually enjoy.
